State tree: Khejri (Prosopis cineraria) — called 'Kalp Vriksha' (wish-fulfilling tree) of the desert. Provides: leaves for fodder (loong), wood for fuel, bark for medicine, pods (sangri) for food, gum. Amrita Devi Bishnoi and 363 Bishnois sacrificed their lives to protect Khejri trees in Khejarli village (Jodhpur) in 1730 — commemorated as Van Mahotsav. This event is considered a precursor to the Chipko Movement.

State flower: Rohida (Tecomella undulata) — desert teak, found in Thar region. Other important trees: Babool/Acacia (most common in arid zone), Dhonk/Anogeissus pendula (most common tree overall in Rajasthan), Teak/Sagwan (found in southern Rajasthan — Banswara, Udaipur, Chittorgarh), Bamboo (southern Rajasthan — used for construction and handicrafts). IMPORTANT: Prosopis Juliflora (Vilayati Babool/Angrezi Babool) is an INVASIVE foreign species — NOT native to Rajasthan. It was introduced during British era and has spread aggressively.

Forest types: Tropical Thorn Forest (western/central — khejri, rohida, babool, ker, sangri), Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest (southern/SE — teak, bamboo, khair, salai), Sub-Tropical Evergreen Forest (Mount Abu only). Van Mahotsav (Forest Festival) celebrated in July. Rajasthan Forest Policy aims for 20% forest cover (current ~9.56%).

REET Exam Tips: Khejri = state tree = Kalp Vriksha (memorize all products). Rohida = state flower. Dhonk = most common tree. Vilayati Babool = invasive/foreign. Amrita Devi Bishnoi = Khejarli (1730). Teak = southern Rajasthan (Banswara has maximum teak area).
