NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICIES CHRONOLOGY: India has had THREE national education policies: NPE 1968 (Kothari Commission-based), NPE 1986 (modified 1992, Ramamurti Committee), and NEP 2020 (Kasturirangan Committee). Additionally, several commissions and committees shaped education policy. UNIVERSITY EDUCATION COMMISSION (1948-49, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan) — first post-independence education commission, focused on higher education. SECONDARY EDUCATION COMMISSION (1952-53, Dr. A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar) — reformed secondary education structure. KOTHARI COMMISSION (1964-66, Dr. D.S. Kothari) — the most comprehensive education commission. Recommended: 10+2+3 structure, common school system, three-language formula, 6% GDP spending on education. Led to NPE 1968.

NPE 1968: Based on Kothari Commission recommendations. Key features: 10+2+3 education structure adopted nationally, three-language formula, emphasis on science and technology, national curriculum framework idea. However, implementation was weak. NPE 1986 (PM Rajiv Gandhi): Introduced: Operation Blackboard (minimum facilities in every school), Navodaya Vidyalayas (model schools for talented rural students), Open University system, Child-Centered Approach. Modified in 1992 by Acharya Ramamurti Committee and Janardhan Reddy Committee (Programme of Action 1992). SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN (SSA, 2001): Flagship programme for universalization of elementary education. Goal: All children in school by 2010. Targeted 6-14 age group. District-based planning. Major component of RTE implementation.

NCF (National Curriculum Framework): NCF is a document that provides guidelines for curriculum development, textbook design, and teaching practices across India. There have been FOUR NCFs: NCF 1975 (first), NCF 1988, NCF 2000, NCF 2005 (most referenced). NCF 2005 (Prof. YASH PAL, NOT Kasturirangan): Five guiding principles: (1) Connecting knowledge to life outside school, (2) Shifting learning from rote to understanding, (3) Enriching curriculum beyond textbooks, (4) Making exams flexible and integrated with classroom life, (5) Nurturing the overarching identity of the learner. NCF-SE 2023 released to align with NEP 2020. NCF-FS (Foundational Stage) for ages 3-8.

RAJASTHAN-SPECIFIC EDUCATION INITIATIVES: MISSION BUNIYAD — Rajasthan's implementation of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) for primary classes (1-5, NOT upper primary only — confirmed trap). SHALA DARPAN — Digital platform for school data management, student tracking, parent communication. Works in BOTH urban AND rural schools (trap says only rural). GYAN SANKALP PORTAL — Financial support platform where individuals and corporates can donate to specific government schools. GYAN DARPAN — Education portal for technology integration. MISSION START (Strategic Transformation for Advanced Results in Teaching). SWAMI VIVEKANAND GOVERNMENT MODEL SCHOOLS — Operating in 186 Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs). KASTURBA GANDHI BALIKA VIDYALAYA (KGBV) — Residential schools for girls from SC/ST/OBC/Muslim families in educationally backward blocks.

PARAKH AND ASSESSMENT: PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) — Established under NCERT as the national assessment regulator for school education under NEP 2020. Functions: set assessment norms, conduct national learning outcome surveys, guide states on assessment reform. KEY FACT: PARAKH state reports are based on surveys conducted by NCERT/central body, NOT state education departments (Q.53 DHD68). NIPUN BHARAT (2021): National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy. Target: All children achieve foundational literacy and numeracy by end of Grade 3 by 2026-27. INSPIRE AWARDS: Science innovation awards for students of Class 6-10 ONLY (NOT 11-12 — confirmed trap). ₹10,000 per student.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FRAMEWORKS: RPWD ACT 2016 (Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act): Expanded disability categories from 7 (under PWD Act 1995) to 21. Mandates 4% reservation in government jobs (up from 3%). Inclusive education provisions: no child with disability shall be denied admission, reasonable accommodations must be provided. NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, 2007): Statutory body monitoring child rights including education. SCPCR — State-level counterpart. ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services, 1975): Implements Anganwadi centres providing: supplementary nutrition, immunization, health checkups, nutrition education, pre-school education, referral services. Under Ministry of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT (NOT Education — confirmed trap Q.56 DHD68). ANGANWADI WORKER is NOT a teacher — she is a health and nutrition worker.
